2018 DS HR Strategy Forum - Call for Session Presenters

The Developmental Services (DS) Human Resource (HR) Strategy, a partnership between the Ministry of Community and Social Services and the Developmental Services Sector, will be holding the annual two-day Forum in Toronto, at the Holiday Inn Toronto International Airport, on February 6th and 7th, 2018.

The main goal of the Forum is to share information and examples of how the DS HR Strategy is being used across the sector to enhance the lives of people with developmental disabilities through the professionalization of the workforce. The information provided will assist organizations in implementing the recommendations and tools developed as part of the Strategy in their own agencies. As we are in the tenth year of the strategy, the theme for this year’s Forum is “A Celebration of Success”.

Streams:

 Training: workplace learning practices, resources and examples that highlight excellent practices in training, including various modes of delivery, partnerships and integration of Core Competencies.

  • HR Practices: Examples of how the DS HR Strategy has influenced HR Practices in DS agencies. Areas of particular interest include: recruitment; retention; talent management and succession planning; and core competencies integration.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Leading practices in the promotion of DS agencies and a career in developmental services in Ontario.
  • Direct Support Employee Practices: Information and examples that provide direct support employees with knowledge and skills needed to become leaders in their role.

The DS HR Strategy embraces the diversity of the sector and encourages francophone agencies to consider submitting a proposal for French language presentations.
